Guy Seeks Revenge on Date Who Texted During Movie

He filed a legal petition to get his money back

May 17, 2017

Is it a brilliant move or just a bitter dude? A 37-year-old guy from Austin, Texas is suing a woman he took out on a date.

Brandon Vezmar wants to recoup the $17.31 movie tickets he paid for because he claims his date, 15 minutes into Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2, began texting.

For her part, the 35-year-old woman, who has asked to remain nameless, was completely unaware she was being sued for being rude on a date.

According to small claims court petition obtained by the Austin American-Statesman, Vezmar says the woman “activated her phone at least 10-20 times in 15 minutes to read and send text messages.” He also claims he asked her not to use her phone or to go outside. The petition says that the texting was a “direct violation” of the theater’s cell phone policy. In the below test message, reportedly sent by Vezmar, he calls her behavior "wildly out of line" and that he's happy to put her "on the books" for the money.

The women told the newspaper in Austin that she refused to pay Vezmar back because “he took me out on a date” and that she’s not a “bad woman.” However, this guy did spend nearly $20 on a woman who clearly didn't have any interest in the movie.

In tun, the woman says she’ll soon file a protective order against Vezmar because he contacted the her sister in an effort to get the money back. Maybe, unnamed chick, just give him $20, call it a day, and get over it?
